Andy
Welcome to ElectricAndyland.com. My name is Andy Plaisted. I've been a professional musician active on the Boston music scene for several decades now. I work mostly as a drummer for numerous bands and singer songwriters. For the past fifteen years I have been involved in producing and recording as well. Ten years ago, I opened Electric Andyland in a loft space in Somerville.
I am a musician first. I enjoy a wide variety of music from unadorned folk songs to blues, jazz, country, roots music, R&B, rock and roll, avant garde music, and full blown prog rock. My goal as a producer/engineer is to create the definitive version of the artist's material; the version that the listener will want to hear again and again.
I offer start to finish production, which means anything from preproduction rehearsals through tracking and editing and overdubbing to mixing and mastering. I can help create arrangements if desired, or write/create/perform accompaniment parts, etc. I am available to play drums on any project if you need that, and I have access to many accomplished local musicians if you need to hire other personnel.
For gear, there are drum kits by Ludwig, Rogers, Gretsch, Camco, as well as custom drums, and over 20 snare drums from Ludwig, Rogers, Camco, Slingerland, Premier. Cymbals by Zildjian, Paiste, and Sabian. There's a Kawai K5 upright piano, Hammond A 100 with Leslie, and access to a Rhodes suitcase electric piano. There's a Hearback monitoring system. There are microphones from Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, CAD, Electro Voice, Neumann, Oktava, Reslo (Xaudia) Sennheiser, Shure, and more. Mic Pres by CAPI, Sytek, and Vintech. Conversion by Lynx. DAWs are ProTools and Reason. There are many, many plug ins from many developers including Brainworx, iZotope, Soundtoys, and Waves. I have many virtual instruments including Spitfire Chamber Strings.
Mostly, what I offer is an experienced, sympathetic, enthusiastic ear. I know what actions to take to make songs sound great as well as when to stay out of the way.
